Built in 1910, the Cline Hotel served as a more of a boarding house than what is considered a hotel in contemporary time. From about 1964-1973 Polks City Directories indicate that it was operated more as an apartment building. By 1974 the city directories show that it was back in operation as a hotel until the early 2000s.
The Cline's renovation project created 12 modern midtown, market rate apartments with traditional charms and modern amenities. The Cline is one of 11 buildings in and around the Automobile Alley Historic District that were rehabilitated and adapted to new uses between 2008 and 2017 for which PandDStudio provided a variety of services such as historical research, National Register nominations, existing conditions drawings, design and preservation consulting, and preservation tax credits application management.
