The Hilton Hotel was designed in the Sullivanesque style and constructed in 1929. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing resource to the Plainview Commercial Historic District. The hotel was one of the most prominent buildings constructed in Plainview in the 1920s. It is eight stories tall and has nearly 60,000 square feet. The limestone and tan brick clad hotel tower has a 2-story commercial and ballroom wing.
The hotel hosted visiting celebrities such as Jack Dempsey, Guy Lombardo, and the Tommy Dorsey Band. After decades of vacancy, the Hilton has been rehabilitated and adapted into affordable apartments and amenity spaces such as the restoration of the 20story lobby and the second-story ballroom. It is now known as Conrad Lofts.
PandDStudio prepared a window survey recording the condition of nearly 360 windows and then prepared side-by-side drawings comparing old window details to historically appropriate replacement units, which were approved by the SHPO and NPS. PandDS provided preservation and design consulting and historic preservation tax credits application prep and management.
